The second (and final) book from the Neutralis series is available for pre-order on Amazon! It’s called Aequalis. It’s safe to say I know at least two Latin words.
I started writing the book sometime after COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. I was determined to complete the series, despite a measly readership. Not just for the few people who have supported me along the way (thank you, Thembi!), but for myself.
There’s clearly a wide gap between Neutralis (2016) and Aequalis (2021). I won’t get into the details of that. But every time I’d tried to write the second book, I felt the timing was off. I think the delay was helpful because it helped me learn something: I enjoy writing books that capture my current state of mind.
In 2020, much like many people, I felt isolated and trapped. Without giving away spoilers, that’s what the second book captures. In my opinion, at least.
It took me about 80-days to write this book, in between everything else I had going on in my life. Sleeping at 4 in the morning had become a regular thing. All this because I wanted to give Neutralis the ending it deserves.
I’m determined to try marketing the book (and series) a bit better this time. But I prefer investing more time in improving my craft than my numbers.
Also, I wanted to add that this is most likely the last young-adult book I’ll be writing/publishing. As I’ve said before, I enjoy writing books that capture my current state of mind. I’m 27 now, and I would like to write mature books. Not to say the Neutralis series is immature. But I don’t enjoy writing from a 17-year-old’s perspective as much as I did in my early 20s.
See you again when I have something meaningful to say. But for now, stay safe!
